Fridays' Journey

Fridays is a stray kitten we found on an island in one of our summits. He has now grown into a playful and sweet cat. We are proud to have been part of his journey and to have given him a loving home.

On June 1st, 2022, our leadership team went to Friday’s Beach Resort in Puerto Galera for our annual corporate retreat. As soon as we arrived, we were greeted by a small, thin kitten covered in mud. The black-and-white-colored kitten looked about two months old and seemed to have been in a bad state of health. Even though he wasn’t in the best condition, we fed it and played with it throughout our first day at the resort. The resort staff informed us that the kitten had shown up a couple of days prior and may have come from the nearby forest.
The kitten followed us everywhere we went, and he seemed to want to stay with us. He was playful by the pool, joined us for lunch, and even came to our rooms. He was surprisingly friendly to a stray cat, allowing us to pet and play with him. He was not scared of strangers at all! One night, the kitten even slept on Welnee’s (VP of Business Units) lap, which showed a high level of trust and comfort.
By the end of our stay, Phil (CEO) expressed that he badly wanted to adopt this kitten and bring it back to the US, but he was unsure how to do so. I had always wanted to rescue and adopt a stray animal, but I was scared and hesitant to push through with my plans because of all the logistics involved. But as soon as I looked at this kitten, I realized that this was a perfect time and we decided to take action on our plan. Phil offered to support the kitten's initial needs, such as food, vet bills, and other necessities.
I named the kitten "Fridays" in honor of the resort where we found it.
